On Wednesday May 17, 2017, at exactly 8:45 am, it’s with a strong and vibrant gesture that Montreal’s churches will highlight the anniversary of Ville-Marie’s founding.

The symbolic sounding of the Oratory’s first bell will mark the beginning of a soaring peal of bells. From the top of Mount Royal and over the entire city, the churches of the Archdiocese of Montreal will ring their bells together, inviting Montrealers to share in a moment of reflection… and joy.

Just a few minutes before the solemn Mass commemorating Ville-Marie’s founding, the chiming of the bells is also a symbolic summoning to a celebration, as it will join, in music, the bells of the Notre-Dame Basilica.
