In these times of confinement, the Oratory’s pastoral team wishes more than ever to remain in contact with you to celebrate Holy Week, that high point of the year destined to commemorate the Passion of Christ. That is why we are offering you, despite the distance, alternatives to keep in touch with you, whether it be readings, audio or video messages throughout the week.

Palm Sunday marks the start of Holy Week. Preceding Easter Sunday, it commemorates two events: on the one hand, the solemn entry of Jesus into Jerusalem where he was cheered by a crowd waving palm branches cut from the trees; on the other hand, the Passion of Christ and his death on the cross, hence the current name of “celebration of Palm Sunday and the Passion.”

Mass in memory of the Lord’s Supper – Holy Thursday commemorates the institution by Jesus Christ of the sacrament of the Eucharist at the Last Supper, which is the last meal taken with his disciples before his arrest. It is part of the Easter Triduum, which extends from Holy Thursday (commemoration of Christ’s last meal with his apostles) to Vespers on Easter Sunday.
